Data centres fuel Paladin’s expansion

Paladin EnviroTech, a U.S.-based electronics recycling and IT asset disposition company, is expanding across North America and Europe through acquisitions and partnerships. The private equity-backed firm has opened collection and processing hubs in multiple states and entered the European market with two recent purchases.
In recent months, the company acquired businesses in Florida, Maryland, and Minnesota. Its chief operating officer, Bill Vasquez, stated the growth has been swift. “We’ve only just begun, but we’re already witnessing fast business growth,” he said.
European expansion targets data center waste
Paladin’s push into Europe began in January with the acquisition of R&L Recycling, a Netherlands-based firm specializing in secure data destruction and electronics reuse. Founded 25 years ago by Raymond van Melis, R&L processes laptops, servers, cables, and printed circuit boards. It will continue operating under its existing name, with its management team remaining in place.

A month later, Paladin added a second European hub by purchasing ICT, an R2-certified ITAD provider in Dublin, Ireland. The move places the firm near the EU’s largest concentration of data centers. CEO Brian Diesselhorst explained that this acquisition strengthens support for customers in Dublin, often called the EU’s “data center capital,” and across Ireland.
Vasquez pointed out that cloud infrastructure expansion has increased decommissioned hardware, including servers and networking equipment. “By targeting key locations like Dublin, Paladin is positioning itself at the center of this emerging wave,” he said.
The company’s growth extends beyond traditional recycling. In the U.S., it formed a joint venture with Critical Materials Recycling called Recapture, which focuses on recovering rare earth metals from consumer and industrial electronics. The partnership combines CMR’s material recovery expertise with Paladin’s collection network to process critical materials efficiently.

Leadership continuity and strategic focus
R&L Recycling’s operational manager, Horst Prinsen, remained in his role after the acquisition. In Ireland, ICT’s R2 certification—a standard for responsible electronics recycling—provides immediate credibility in its market.
Diesselhorst emphasized that the company’s approach balances speed with responsibility.
