Occasionally the business Analyst can be so caught up in a design he or she forgets tried and true styles don’t always work. The analysis platoon is trying to get done what the client has scoped out and sets up a plan of action. The plan of action requires certain fundamentals. There are times when these rudimentary ideas just don’t work for the customer. The customer can’t understand why these way may be so important. This is when the business critic needs to step back and ask the same questions as the customer. It’s each in communication.
The professional business Analyst must understand success of the design isn’t only about conditions validations it’s about how those conditions are handled. The business critic is the acting liaison between the customer and IT. The attestation may be needed for the IT platoon to do their job. Certain explanations may be necessary for everyone to understand what’s demanded. Yet the customer may not understand the attestation or have no need for it to begin with. Communication chops are what’s needed.
The business critic may get farther and move briskly with just a simple meeting to explain the styles and procedures being used. The customer can ask questions and the business critic can explain. The case studies and other attestation would not in any way assure the customer of progress. There are those who need to hear it because to them it may look good on paper, but how is it supposed to work? A good business critic can explain the complications of what’s taking place. The customer can subscribe off. The work can continue. The thing is being met.
This is where the business Analyst must be flexible. Just because he or she has done this a thousand times with other guests doesn’t mean this customer is like the other thousand. The job of the business critic is to determine what the customer wants. Paperwork may be a burden to the customer. The business critic should comprehend how information is delivered. He or she must be flexible enough to deliver what the client is requesting. The business critic must insure the customer is comfortable with how information is delivered. Not the other way around.
There will be times the business Analyst must learn to be flexible when it comes to dealing with information. Not everyone can do the job of a business critic. This is why he or she was hired in the first place. Still, there may be no attestation for certain effects the critic is typically made privy to. The business critic must be flexible in knowing how to work around this hedge. He or she must know how to gather the information demanded to perform the task. Inflexibility comes in handy at this point. The business critic may have to do what he or she can at present and stay for statistics to be gathered. Rather of getting a terse written report from the platoon, the critic may have to solicit each member to gather what he or she needs.
The key is to work within the boundaries of the customer. Do what the customer feels comfortable with. The business Analyst may not be as comfortable. Being flexible in any situation will do down with this apprehension. The task at hand can be fulfilled.
