The aim is to develop practical solutions to obstacles to investing in less-liquid belongings, and in doing so, facilitate long-term funding into assets that expand productive capability. In September, the Working Group published its ultimate report supporting the need for long-term investments – corresponding to investments in younger, smaller businesses with the capability to grow – together with through a Long-Term Asset Fund . The report additionally sets out a roadmap of recommendations to eradicating obstacles to long-term, illiquid investing. Several latest government-led initiatives have sought to improve SMEs’ access to bank finance. Looking ahead, the major focus continues to shift to facilitating entry especially for more long-term, equity-like finance to high-growth and innovative businesses.
